Avery's First Week

Avery Nicole Lee was born at 2:53 AM on 6/19/2008 at 6 lbs 2 oz. She has been such a blessing to both of us. We're still working on bringing Foster around to agree that Avery is a good thing but he is doing better(he's probably grumpy from lack of sleep too).

The birth process was crazy quick and I attribute that to Steph working out on the Tuesday before Steph gave birth to Avery. Being in shape definitely helped everything go smoothly and a bit of luck and good genes. The whole process took less than 4.5 hours from first contraction to delivery!!

It has almost been a week now and we are learning the ways of being a "family". It's quite amazing to have your own child look you in the eyes and smile. Avery actually has already started a hobby of being artistic. She loves to walk through our hallway and look at the few pieces of artwork that we have.

Both sets of grandparents were able to come to Chicago to see Avery and tears were coming out of both Grandma's before they even saw Avery's little face. For Steph's side of the family, next up is her older sister Nikki's delivery and she is due on July 2nd(that is scary close to Steph)

That's enough for now but we'll check back in after a few more days to post more pictures and give an update on how things are going.

    Awesome family! It's amazing how having a baby brings many nights cut short, diverts play income to things like diapers and baby food, and pushes patience because you've done everything you could to help her be happy, but she's still crying. Yet, at the end of the day, you wouldn't give it up for the world.

    It's a mystery, but man it's a great ride :-)

    Congratulations to the Lee family. We certainly look forward to meeting in person (Didymus looks forward to the meeting too!). To share a favorite quote which seems somehow appropriate;

    Making the decision to have a child - it's momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.
